BIO
Ricardo Vieira, known as DJ Lilocox, is a producer and DJ from Lisbon with Cape Verdean roots. He rose to prominence in the Piquenos DJs do Guetto culture, alongside Firmeza and Maboku, and is now one of the central figures in Afro-Portuguese beats.
He has been associated with Príncipe Discos for over a decade. His first contribution came with "La Party" in 2016, on the compilation "Mambos Levis d'Outro Mundo"—a track so dominant on the dance floors that the label even imposed a rule preventing other DJs from playing it on the same night.
In 2018 he released the EP "Paz & Amor," which gave him international exposure and a lighter, more elegant interpretation of the beat's percussion. Since then, he has been moving away from staccato towards a warmer and more engaging Afro house, without ever losing his rhythmic signature.
The mixtape “Drums (Lata)” (2023) brings together 43 tracks from his archive — resonant log drums and cutting brass — balancing the polyrhythms of his Cape Verdean roots with the groove of deep house. He is one of the most popular Portuguese DJs in the European club music circuit.
